Meet Ross Makris
Ross Makris has more than 37 years of expertise as an astute investor and commercial property developer. His extensive career encompasses the acquisition, management and development of retail, commercial and institutional properties across South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
This includes as owner of a portfolio of shopping centres and commercial properties through major investment vehicles, namely the Makris Corporation and the Precision Group.
Ross Markis has a passion for property and expertise in identifying and securing blue-chip investment opportunities with significant upside for the investor.
His deep understanding of property involves the true fundamentals; risk assessment, effective management and how to create and unlock value that ultimately drives success.
Ross joined the Makris Group in 1987 and was a Director for 9 years from 1987-1996.
In 1995, Ross established the Precision Investment Corporation Pty Ltd which led to the co-founding of the Precision Group. Ross was Managing Director and Secretary of the Precision Group for 7 years from 1995-2002.
The Precision Group grew rapidly and by 2000 had built a $250M portfolio of shopping centres and commercial properties including the Newton Shopping Centre, Gawler Shopping Centre, Port Adelaide Plaza Shopping Centre and Customs House and the largest property transaction at the time, the $93M Adelaide Central Plaza in Rundle Mall. Ross was 29 at the time.
Ross sold his 50% stake in the Precision Group in 2002 and established the Makris Corporation in 2005 and is Managing Director and CEO.
Ross was declared the most successful business person under 40 in 2009 by the country’s leading business publication BRW (Business Review Weekly).
In 2016, Ross completed the master planning and rezoning of a 35-hectare site into a $250M mixed-use residential, retail and bulky goods development in Victor Harbor on South Australia’s famous Southern Fleurieu Peninsula.
Ross established the Interstellar Group of companies in 2023 including Interstellar Corporation Pty Ltd and is involved in all facets of Interstellar Capital Pty Ltd and Interstellar Funds Management Pty Ltd as the AFSL holder.
Ross will join investors and co-invest and remain a major shareholder in each asset acquired by Interstellar Capital.
Ross Makris is a dedicated Responsible Manager of the AFSL and will conduct and oversee regulatory compliance, oversight of operations, risk management and ongoing CPD.
Ross Makris holds a Business and Marketing Diploma (1990) and a Responsible Manager Fundamentals certification from Financial Education Professionals (2023).
